I had no idea this project was taking place, I’m definitely pro the centre. We have to start trying to reach children with 21st century methods. Clearly sitting them down or hiding them away from these issues is combating nothing. My partner believes that some of these issues should be being taught at home, obviously they are not and so I think it’s great that the council are taking steps in making young children aware of them.
I believe that children as young as 10 are already aware of these issues, my mum thinks that children know far more than they should at such a young age but that’s exactly it they do, so it’s our job to then teach them the dangers of the situations, to give them all the facts instead of them just knowing half.
Thats for posting this. could be a good starting point for lines of enquiry.
I totally agree with you Nicole, these children and young people of today are growing up before their time and know so much at such a young age where they are learning things through hear say and the school playground through friends which may not necessarily be factual so why not show them some of the issues they might face being the future adults of this country in this type of way- I think it’s a great Centre with great potential.
